Books, $7.95, ISBN 0-88776-790-7), 16p, Ages 2-5.
Now in board book format, these three colorful early concept
books explore counting, quantity, and position with bold,
brilliant colors in interesting shapes.
"One, Two, Three" gives toddlers the basics of size, shape,
and color, while preschoolers will enjoy the counting concepts
of 1 to 10. A closer look will reveal that one apple has one
stem, one leaf, and one big bite out of it. There are also striped
fish, colorful balls, sailboats, buttons, glasses, flowers,
dominoes, buildings, and trees.
"One Some Many" introduces the concept of quantity, incorporating
size, shape, and color. An apple core reveals "hardly any."
Two flowers become four, with an explanation of "a few is more
than two." The oversized and sparce text is also beneficial to
beginning readers.
"Over Under" explores the concepts of large and small, above
and below, and inside and outside. The graphic cut paper images
use familiar objects to introduce children to color, form, and
design.
